Russia reveals new attempts to transport militias from Syria’s Idlib to Iraq

Russia has found information on attempts to re-deploy terrorists from Syria’s Idlib to Iraq, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov said on Tuesday.

“There are the attempts of redeployment [of terrorists from Idlib] to Iraq but they are being cut off,” the senior Russian diplomat told Russian News Agency (TASS). “Iraq is dealing with that and it clearly does not need extra terrorists.”

On Sept. 17, Russian and Turkish Presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan met in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi and agreed to create a de-militarized zone in Idlib along the line of the engagement of the Syrian troops and the opposition.
