US Vice President Mike Pence met with Iraqi Nobel peace winner Nadia Murad, according to Hurra channel.
"Nadia’s dedication and bravery in standing up for victims of ISIS’ brutality is an inspiration. Well-deserved, Nadia!", Pence stated on his Twitter account
US presidential adviser Ivanka Trump attended also at the meeting.
Murad, 25, is an Iraqi Kurdish Yazidi human rights activist from Sinjarwho survived sexual slavery at the hands of ISIS. About 3,000 Iraqi girls and women are the victims of rape and other abuses at the hands of the terrorist organization.
Yazidis are an ancient religious minority who trace their roots to a number of small villages in a remote part of northern Iraq.
Murad was awarded the peace price Friday along with Congo’s Denis Mukwege, a gynecologist who treats women victims of sexual violence.
