Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbusi said Monday that newly-appointed Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi “would be under no political pressure for appointing a certain figure to a specific ministerial position and that he is free to form the cabinet.”
Halbusi added, in a press conference, that Mahdi is required to accelerate the efforts to establish the new Iraqi government.
Mahdi was granted 30 days, in accordance with the constitution, to form the new government. He is required to announce the new government on 2nd November.
On Oct. 2, Abdul-Mahdi was appointed to the premiership after receiving enough votes at the parliament.
