Halbousi, Islamic Supreme Council discuss gov't formation

Iraq’s newly-elected parliamentary speaker, Mohamed al-Halbousi met Sunday with a delegation from the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq to discuss the formation of the upcoming government, the speaker media office stated.

 

During the meeting, headed by Sheikh Muhammad Taqi Al-Mawla, Halbsi asserted that “Iraq is going through a phase that requires all political powers to join hands and coordinate with the aim to create a decent political climate that paves the way for finding solutions for outstanding issues and problems.”

 

"We hope to have a clear vision in selecting a strong and harmonious cabinet," al-Halbusi said, pointing out that “the Iraqi House of Representatives will support the next government in terms of legislation.”

 

The two parties also discussed developments in the political scene and stressed intention to support the legislative institution and enhance its role to resume the comprehensive reform process.
