Iraqi police forces managed on Saturday to arrest the main suspect behind the murder of the head of the directorate of passports in the southern Iraqi province of Babil, Col. Safa Hassan al-Dulaimi.
“A police squad dispatched by the Interior Ministry Interior has managed to arrest the main suspect of the murder of al-Dulaimi after receiving a tip off,” a security source said.
The source added that the suspect was transferred to a security detention center pending investigation.
In June, al-Dulaimi was assassinated in broad daylight on his way home. Several Iraqi sources claimed the motive behind the assassination stemmed from his refusal to issue forged Iraqi passports to the powers behind the Iranian-backed militias.
