U.S. ambassador to Iraq, Douglas Silliman, congratulated on Wednesday Adil Abdul Mahdi on his nomination as Iraq's new prime minister who will form the new government.
He stated on his Twitter account, “Congratulations and best of success to Adil Abd AlMahdi as he starts to form the new government of Iraq.”
He added, “The USA will work with the future PM to help his government meet the needs and aspirations of all the people of Iraq.”

“The Iraqi political blocs agreed on nominating Iraqi politician Adil Abdul Mahdi to be the next prime minister, succeeding Haider al-Abadi,” a source of the Reform and Reconstruction Coalition said on Tuesday.
The choice of Abdul Mahdi, former Vice President and oil minister, came in order to resolve a dispute between various coalitions including the coalition of the former prime minister Nouri al-Maliki, Building Alliance, Reform and Reconstruction Coalition supported by the Shiite leader, Muqtada Al-Sadr, Alliance towards Reforms Coalition and the National Wisdom Movement led by Ammar al-Hakim.
