The US-led Joint Task Force fighting ISIS in Iraq and Syria
said Monday that Iranian forces launched a missile strike on targets in Syria
Sunday night.
"Iranian forces launched strikes last night [in areas
in Syria] without warning," Joint Task Force spokesman Sean Ryan said.
"The coalition’s leadership continues to assess whether
the operation has posed any threat to the coalition and whether it has caused
damage to its structure," adding that "the coalition obtained its
information from open sources that Iran's objectives were against terrorists,"
Ryan added.
Earlier on Monday, Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps
announced that it had targeted militant positions in Syria’s eastern Euphrates region
with ballistic missiles, claiming revenge for the Ahvaz attack.
