Parliamentary election in Kurdistan

Parliamentary election in Kurdistan Region held on Sunday witnessed a high turnout in the capital Erbil, which reached 58.57 percent, according to Erbil's official in the Kurdistan Region's Independent High Elections and Referendum Commission (IHERC).

"We are legally obliged to announce the preliminary results within 72 hours after the end of the ballot," the official said, adding that the votes sorting of polling stations will be received by IHERC on Sunday night.

The British ambassador to Iraq John Wilks visited Erbil on Sunday to monitor the transparency of the voting process. "We encourage citizens of Kurdistan Region to participate in the election, and we’re looking forward to the early announcement of the results," he stated.
