Gorran Movement: US consulate to monitor Kurdish elections

Gorran rejects any pretexts to postpone KRG's Parliamentary election

The Gorran (Change) Movement announced that the US consulate in the Kurdistan region will closely monitor the process of the parliamentary elections to be held Sunday in the provinces of the region.

Gorran said in a press statement that in response to its invitation, the US consulate in the Kurdistan region will monitor the provincial parliamentary elections, which are set to start on Sunday.

The statement pointed out that the monitoring of the elections by the United States will reduce fraud and electoral violations by political parties.

As many as 773 candidates from 29 political parties are competing for seats in the semi-autonomous region’s 111-seat parliament, including 11 seats for minorities. Voting will take place at 5,941 local voting centers.
