Syria welcomes agreement on Idleb announced in Sochi

Syria welcomed an agreement on Idleb Province announced Monday in the Russian city of Sochi, stressing that it was an outcome of intensive consultations between it and Russia, SANA news agency reported on Tuesday.

An official source at the Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said Syria has always welcomed any initiative that stops bloodshed and contributes to re-establishing security and stability to each inch that was struck by terrorism as it stresses determination to go ahead with its war against terrorism until all the Syrian territories are liberated whether by military operations or by local reconciliations.

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart agreed in Sochi on establishing a demilitarized zone in Idleb.

The agreement has been made to establish a deep demilitarized zone in Idlib region by Oct. 15 and be 15-20 kilometers (9-12 miles) deep.
