The Kurdish block of Gorran (Change) expressed its objection to forging the voting over the parliament speaker by boycotting the session.

Gorran MP Hoshyar Abdulah said in a statement released Sunday that Gorran bloc, occupies five seats, didn’t take part in the parliament’s sessions protesting against forging the voting process, accusing some Kurdish parties of siding with the KDP party to secure the winning of their candidate for the second deputy speaker post.

Iraq's parliament elected Sunni lawmaker Mohammed al-Halbusi as speaker on Saturday, marking the first step towards establishing the new government four months after an inconclusive national election.
