Victory Alliance (Tahalof Al Nasr), led by PM Haidar al-Abadi, announced on Monday its readiness to present an alternative candidate to head the next government, by the time where negotiations with Sairoun Coalition led by the Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr to form a new coalition have reached a new level, waiting for the final touches.
PM of Victory Alliance Faisal al-Aissawy stated that the alliance has paved the way for the ongoing talks betweenSairoun and al-Fatah coalitions, after setting up a meeting between the two parties to break the ice.
“The deal was to cancel the alliances of Islah, E’marand Benaa, then working on establishing a new alliance based on al-Fatah, Sairoun , and any other blocs that won seats at the latest parliament elections,” Aissawy said in his press statements, adding that political and governmental arrangements will be set to determine the names of the three presidencies (Prime Minister, President and Parliament Speaker) and ministers.
Aissawy confirmed Victory Alliance’s intent to present an alternative PM candidate, instead of the current PM Abadi, in case other political powers have reservations on his candidacy, stressing the necessity to solve all the conflicting points betweenSairoun and Fatah to form the new alliance.
