Iraqi President Fuad Masum said Parliament seeks to form a government that meets the demands of the people.
Masum made these remarks in his speech during the inauguration of the first parliamentary session.
He underlined that the authority of the legislative, executive and judicial institutions must be respected.
In addition, he underscored the need to combat extremism, poverty and illiteracy.
He also pointed out that the political and security systems must be reviewed, stressing that all organizations that exploit religion to harm the Iraqi people must be defeated.
