Commander of Diyala Military Operations Mazhar Al-Azzawi announced Monday the launch of a large-scale military operation to track down ISIS terrorist sleeping cells in southern the province.
In a press statement, Azzawi said a joint army and police forces have begun to track down ISIS terrorist sleeping cells in Buhriz and Canaan districts.
He underlined that the army and police forces are backed by air cover by the air force.
Iraqi cities are bearing the brunt of ISIS terror. Explosions, suicide bombings and assassinations are a commonplace. Many civilians and police and army personnel die in the aftermath of this violence.
