Anbar Criminal Court sentenced on Wednesday
three defendants to death by hanging over accusations of their belonging to ISIS outlawed
group and committing terrorist acts against security forces, civilians in the
province.
In a statement, Abdul Sattar Berqdar, a spokesperson for
the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq said that Anbar criminal court
has heard the cases of the three defendants accused of belonging to ISIS
terrorist group and committing horrific acts.
Berqdar added that those criminals have previously abducted and killed several Iraqi
civilians in Anbar.
“The court ruling was issued pursuant to article 4/1 of the
anti-terrorism law,”
Berqdar pointed out.
Iraq’s anti-terrorism law empowers courts to convict people who
are believed to have helped jihadists even if they are not accused of carrying
