Basra MPs threaten to hold sit-in to protest water pollution

Water.

Basra candidates who won the Parliamentary elections threatened to stage an open sit-in if the government in its next meeting, which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, did not look into the demands of Basra residents, especially their complain about water pollution.

In a statement, MP of Basra Badr al-Zayadi underlined that a number of MPs will call for a sit-in if the government did not allocate a sum of money to enhance the basic services in the province and grant Basra its rights in Petrodollar and border crossings revenues.

The province has been suffering for two weeks from water scarcity and pollution, as dozens of citizens have been poisoned.
