3 members of federal police injured in blast in Kirkuk

Three members of the federal police - including an officer - were wounded by an explosive device west of Kirkuk.

A security source said that a bomb exploded on a vehicle of the Federal Police in the village of Gharib in the province of Hawija.

The source pointed out that the explosion led to the injury of three policemen, one of them is a colonel.

The source, who asked not to be identified, said that security forces cordoned off the area. The wounded were taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Areas of south and west of Kirkuk (255 km north of the capital Baghdad), are witnessing a state of insecurity and chaos caused by explosions and suicide attacks.
