Forming parliament’s largest bloc will not be easy: President’s adviser

Iraqi President Fuad Masum political adviser, Farhad Alaa al-Din stressed that the formation of the parliament’s largest bloc will not be an easy process.

Alaa al-Din said that after Federal Supreme Court has ratified the parliamentary elections results, the pace of negotiations over the formation of the largest bloc has accelerated.

He pointed out that Saairun- National Wisdom Movement Alliance is competing with the alliance of State of Law Coalition-Fatah Alliance in order to form the largest bloc, adding that the two teams claim that they can collect the largest number of deputies from Shiite, Sunni and Kurd blocs.

Although some blocs announced that they are close to form the largest bloc, Alaa al-Din said that the formation of the largest bloc will not be easy due to several reasons, including external pressure.

He noted that any formation of the largest bloc before or shortly after Eid al-Adha holiday will be a temporary formation that can be disassembled due to internal and external pressures.
