The Iranian Militias in Iraq and Syria (IMIS) have evacuated a number of areas located on the western side of the Tigris River in Nineveh, well-informed sources said on Sunday.
The
sources pointed out that such a step is very dangerous at a time when these
areas are constantly subjected to attacks carried out by ISIS terrorist group.
Iraqi
forces have taken control of most of the disputed areas located between the
Kurdistan Region and Baghdad following the independence referendum signed last
year.
Among
the areas located in the west of the Tigris, is Sinjar town, the home of the
Yezidis.
The
sources said that such a move has raised fears among the residents there as ISIS
terrorist group may launch more terror attacks in these areas.
"In
the past, the Peshmerga forces were deployed in these areas, while the Iraqi
army was guarding the borders.", the sources concluded.
