Mansour al-Baiji, a winning candidate for Nouri Al-Maliki's State of the Law coalition

Mansour al-Baiji, a winning candidate for Nuri Al-Maliki's State of the Law Coalition has urged all parties and political blocs to respect the parliamentary elections results announced after completing the partial recount of votes.

Baiji also called on them to get away from finger-pointing and creating crises that never serve Iraq's interests.

In a press statement released on Saturday, Baiji said that everyone has to respect the elections results in order to settle the matter and be able to enter a new phase, meaning the formation of the coming government.

He also called on the Federal Supreme Court to ratify the elections results as soon as possible to give the parliament the go-ahead to hold its first session, stressing that this is the main step ahead reaching the final formation of the upcoming government.

Baiji added that everyone has to keep Iraq's interest above any personal interests, pointing out that it is not acceptable to delay the formation of the government due to false claims of fraud in the elections results.
