Commander of Diyala Operations Lieutenant General Mizher al-Azzawi announced on Thursday the killing of three ISIS-affiliated gunmen, in addition to destroying 45 boats and guesthouse.
In a press statement, of which, The Baghdad Post received a copy, he added that this came within the two military operations launched in Hamrim and Al-Nada areas in Diyala.
Al-Azzawi added that joint police and army forces, backed by the Iraqi air forces, have succeeded in hunting down down ISIS terrorists in Hamrin, Nada regions in Diyala, leaving three of them killed and 20 guesthouses destroyed.
He added that the forces also managed to seize explosive devices, in addition to destroying 45 boats belong to ISIS group.
The terrorists are controlling roads from Baghdad to Kirkuk and Mosul. The area of Hamrin Mountains and rural villages have become a hot spot of new ISIS operations. Some reports indicate ISIS controls 75 villages and that the ISF have sought to purge up to 175 villages.
