PM's office: 5283 senior Iraqi officials have been investigated since 2014

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi's office revealed on Thursday that about 5283 senior officials have been investigated since the formation of the Iraqi government in 2014 till now.

In a press statement, spokesman for the Prime Minister's office Saad Al Hadithi  said that the government has already outlined an integrated program for combating corruption and corrupts.

The spokesman added that the prime minister, since2014, has set up an integrated program to fight corruption, including serious measures aimed at prosecuting criminals and corrupts in Iraq.

He added that investigations were held for more than 5283 senior officials, including director generals, ministers, deputy ministers, advisers, heads of provincial councils, heads of independent bodies and governors.

 He pointed out that 1076 cases were referred to the judiciary, indicating that 316 people were convicted over corruption charges.
