The Iraqi Commission of Integrity announced on Tuesday that three senior officials in Salahalddin province were jailed on corruption charges estimated at 13 billion dinars.
A government source said that corruption has extended to all Iraqi ministries, which are under investigation by Commission of Integrity.
The source underlined that Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi's decision to refer a number of former ministers and senior government officials to the commission is the first step towards fighting corruption.
In addition, the source pointed out that Abadi's decision included former ministers and senior officials who are believed to be involved in corruption linked to the Ministry of Education.
