Top ISIS leader killed in Samarra: INIS

Iraqi National Intelligence Service (INIS) announced that security forces have killed a top ISIS leader in Samarra city, Salahuddin province.

National security officer in southern Salahaddin, Firas al-Hamdani said in a statement that the security forces in cooperation with the national security apparatus was able to locate and kill ISIS leader, Ali Sharar al-Rafai.

Hamdani pointed out that Rafai was responsible for the latest terrorist attack witnessed in Samarra that targeted a coffee shop, which resulted in the death and injury of dozens.

Although Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced full liberation of Iraqi lands and the end of war against ISIS in December 2017, Iraqi cities are witnessing acts of violence as terrorist group's sleeper cells continue to launch attacks targeting civilians and security forces.
