Iranian army is weaker than it appears: Observers

Weeks ago, the mullahs' army suffered from a global scandal after Israel smuggled 110,000 secret nuclear files outside Iran without being noticed.

After that, Israeli and U.S. fighter jets have launched operations against Iranian positions in Syria without any Iranian military response.

Although these incidents exposed Iran's weakness, Tehran threatened the United States it would wage a war against it.

Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General, Mohammad Bagheri said that the U.S. threats to Iran will face a strong, unimaginable and regrettable response from Tehran.

Bagheri did not clarify details about the Iranian strong reaction or how Iran will implement it.

Iran denounced Unites States' threats, in which Trump said that Iran will face dire consequences of which few throughout history have suffered before.

"NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE.", Trump tweeted.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Jawad Zarif responded to Trump's threats in a new series of verbal threats between the United States and Iran.

"COLOR US UNIMPRESSED: The world heard even harsher bluster a few months ago. And Iranians have heard them —albeit more civilized ones—for 40 yrs. We’ve been around for millennia & seen fall of empires, incl our own, which lasted more than the life of some countries. BE CAUTIOUS!", Zarif said on his Twitter account.

U.S. officials said Trump's remarks aimed at exerting pressure on Iran to end its nuclear program, support terrorist groups and destabilize the Middle East.

For his part, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Iran "is run by something that resembles the mafia more than a government", adding that his country will support the voice of the Iranian people which has been ignored for a long time.

Pompeo also announced that the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) is taking new steps to help Iranians get around internet censorship, pointing out that the BBG is also launching a new 24/7 Farsi-language channel across television, radio, digital and social media formats.

Observers said that the Iranian army is weaker than it appears, especially after its failure to respond to the secret nuclear files smuggling scandal and the air strikes that targeted its positions in Syria.

According to Global Fire Power (GDF) website, The United States army is the strongest army in the world, while Iran ranks as number 13 in its list of 136 countries.

The GFP suggests Iran has 534,000 active military personnel in addition to 400,000 reserves, compared to 1,281,900 active U.S. military personnel.

It added that Iran has 505 military aircrafts and 1,650 tanks while the U.S. has 13,362 aircrafts and 5,884.

They stressed that Iran cannot face the United States, which is considered to be the strongest military power in the world.
