55 Iraqi NGOs urge Abadi to probe police brutality against protesters

More than 55 Iraqi NGOs have urged PM Haider Abadi to immediately investigate the casualties among demonstrators and cancel arrest warrants against activists.

In a statement, the NGOs also called upon the premier to bring all those involved in corruption to justice.

The statement added that recent developments require a serious dialogue with the demonstrators and stopping blocking the Internet, describing it as an arbitrary measure hostile to freedom of information.

The statement pointed out that cutting the Internet leads to severe economic and administrative damage, which would harm the public interest in the country.
