Hundreds of demonstrators have blocked on Saturday the main road to the northern Rumaila oil field, the largest Iraqi oil field in Basra, preventing workers to reach their workplaces.
Sources said that the demonstrators blocked the road in order to protest against oil companies' rejection to offer job opportunities for Basra residents.
Basra oil officials have said five days of demonstrations, which took place near major oilfields, have not impacted crude production.
On July 8, protests erupted in Basra against shortage of jobs, electricity, water and basic services.
According to security and medical sources, 14 Iraqis had been killed and wounded in the protests.
