Iraqi authorities have released the protesters who were detained while attempting to storm the house of Dhi Qar governor, a well-informed source said on Saturday.
The source explained that the protesters were held on charges of riots that broke out near the governor's house.
On Friday, security forces arrested a number of protesters during a demonstration to demand job opportunities and enhanced services.
This comes as sources said the situation in southern Iraq is getting out of control as angry protests are taking control of the provinces. Activists expressed concern the IRGC militia exploits the ongoing turmoil to spread terror and hamper oil transfers.
