Iraqi security officials confirmed Saturday two Filipino women have been abducted on a road linking the capital city of Baghdad to Kurdistan's capital Erbil.
The abducted women were on a journey to Erbil with three other Filipino women when unidentified men in a yellow car pulled over and took them, the sources said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the abduction. The reason behind the incident remained unknown.
Over the past few weeks, there has been a surge in abduction incidents across Iraq.
Last month, ISIS terror group abducted and killed at least eight security personnel .
