Governor of Kirkuk Saeed Jubouri said Monday that the motive behind the suicide attack that targeted ballot boxes warehouse in the province on Sunday was politically and not terrorism.
Jubouri made these remarks to reporters on the sidelines of his visit to the crime scene this morning.
On Sunday, Iraqi counter terrorism forces repelled an attack by a suicider who was riding a bicycle rigged with explosives and attempted to storm the main gate of the popular Al-Awwa warehouses at the entrance of Kirkuk.
The Parliamentary elections was marked by record low turnout. It was the first since Iraq declared victory over the ISIS group and the fourth since the 2003 US-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein.
