Federal Police forces
Seven members of the federal police forces were killed and injured in clashes with ISIS terrorists in Kirkuk, a local source in the restive province said on Friday.
"Members of the federal police's 19th brigade of Nasseria clashed with ISIS terrorists in Halwani village of Huwaija district," the source said.
He noted some ISIS terrorists were killed in the clashes, but the number of terrorists' causalities is still unknown.
After expelling Peshmerga from the disputed areas, ISIS terrorists have stepped up their attacks there, targeting the Iraqi forces and IMIS militiamen.
The latest of these attacks led to the death of eight civilians who were kidnapped by ISIS terrorists on the road between Diyala and Kirkuk.
The incident stirred anger of the Iraqi leadership, who condemned it and vowed the terrorists will be totally crushed.
On Friday, Reuters reported the Iraqi government had put to death 12 ISIS terrorists.
Iraqi PM Haidar Abadi said Thursday his country's security and military forces will eliminate all terrorist cells, praising Wednesday's successful strike against five ISIS bastions that killed dozens of terrorists. According to the statement, Abadi, who is the commander-in-chief of Iraqi forces, vowed to eliminate the terrorist groups and bring them to justice.
