Russia is seeking to release its female nationals currently detained in Iraq over ISIS links, well-informed sources said Saturday.
The sources said Russian authorities have been exercising pressures to get Iraqi approval for releasing Russian detainees.
There is no a prisoner exchange agreement between Iraq and Russia.
A member of the Russian Federation Council Ziyad Sabsabi said on April 29 that 60 Russian women are awaiting trial in Iraq over illegal entry and involvement with ISIS.
Local lawyers abstained from defending those suspects citing ethical reasons.
