Secretary general of Peshmerga ministry Gen. Jabbar
Yawar said on Thursday that the visit of premier Haider al-Abadi to the Kurdish
region is political.
He added Abadi visited the region in order to canvass for the candidates of his coalition, named Victory of Iraq, in the provinces of Dahuk, Sulaymaniyah and Ernil.
Peshmerga denied the reports circulated in the media that candidates were arrested in Erbil, especially those affiliated with Abadi's coalition.
This comes as Abadi visited Erbil on Thursday and met with the Kurdish prime minister Nicherivan Barzani.
Legislative elections will start on May 12th in Iraq.
