IHCHR urges candidates to adhere to elections' ethical standards

The Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights (IHCHR) called on the candidates in the upcoming elections to adhere to the criteria and standards of the electoral competition.

In a press statement, the IHCHR Spokesman Ali Bayati asserted that his organization will monitor the elections to record any violations.

He urged the candidates to adhere to the ethics of electoral competition and be transparent in their campaigns by announcing real programs and avoid deceiving the voters by fake promises to win their voices.

He also urged them to avoid unethical and illegal methods like smear campaigns against their rivals and buying citizens' votes.

Bayati further stated that the IHCHR is cooperating with UNAMI to insure transparent and successful elections.
