Turkey to ‘not allow’ looting in Syria’s Afrin city - Turkish FM
Turkey is “seriously” looking into looting claims in Syria’s Afrin city center, Hurriyet Daily quoted the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu as saying on Thursday.

The Turkish military and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) recently cleared the town center of YPG militants during “Operation Olive Branch” that was launched on Jan. 20.

On March 18, the Turkish Armed Forces and Syrian opposition allies declared full control over the city. But subsequent reports alleged that FSA fighters are going on a looting spree after capturing Afrin.

“We — the Turkish nation, state and government — are against everything inhumane,” Cavusoglu said.

The foreign minister said groups like the YPG “carried out looting in Afrin during their attempts at ethnic cleansing.”

He said all complaints about looting would be taken seriously.

“When there are complaints on such an issue, we have to take them seriously,” he stressed.
