A Vienna knife attacker has been shot dead on the spot while attempting to attack the guards of the Iranian ambassador's residence, police confirmed on Twitter.
Another attacker is currently being hospitalized.
One of the surveillance officers is also being hospitalized after sustaining an injury in the attack.
The reason behind the 26-year-old's attack remains unclear. But Iranian regime is known for expansionist interventions in a number of Arab countries, most notably Syria and Iraq.
Austrian police say strict measures had been taken near all embassies across the capital city for fear of other potential attacks.
