The Syrian army made an advance and
cleaves the rebel-held city of Ghouta that was target of regime's air strikes over
the past three weeks, leaving 1,139 killed persons, according to reports of the
Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) on Monday.
Despite the world calls and UN's resolutions to cease fire, Bashar Al Assad continued the Russian-backed air campaign on the enclave besides the ground offensive, leaving heavy casualties in the last rebel bastion on the capital’s doorstep.
In three weeks of fighting, it has overrun more than half the area and split the remainder into three pockets, isolating the urban hub of Douma from the rest of the enclave.
On Sunday, government troops battered the edges of each pocket with air raids, barrel bombs, and rockets, SOHR stated.
