The parliamentary finance committee on Wednesday announced that Baghdad and Erbil failed to reach a solution for differences related to the 2018 federal budget.
In a statement, MP Sarhan Ahmed said that the members of the committee began to discuss the budget law and are expected to be conclude the discussion within a week. The law will be presented to the House of Representatives soon, he added.
He pointed out that the committee, which was formed to discuss the reservations of the Kurds on the budget, did not hold any meetings so far because the representatives of the government declined to participate.
He added that the budget cannot be passed in its current form.
"We have to gain the federal government's approval in order not to appeal the paragraphs that have been amended", he concluded.
