An explosive device, planted by unidentified men in front of a citizen’s house in al-Tawisah district in central Basra, has gone off, causing only material damage, a security source revealed Thursday.
The source said that the improvised explosive device was made of an explosive weighing about 100 grams.
Security authorities have conducted an investigation into the incident that was directed at a civil servant’s house, he added.
Many Iraqi cities are witnessing a state of insecurity as terrorists groups target innocent civilians.
This comes as ISIS’ power has begun to wane following military operations conducted by the Iraqi Army to recapture ISIS-held districts.
In September, the Iraqi forces recaptured Annah city in western Anbar. Tal Afar city in Nineveh Governorate was retaken late in August.
On July 10, the Iraqi Army recaptured Mosul after a nine-month military operation.
Currently, the Iraqi forces prepare for retaking Rawah and Qa’im cities in western Anbar.
