US-led coalition aircraft conducted on Tuesday a number of airstrikes targeting ISIS’ hideouts in areas around Rawah and Qa’im cities in western Anbar, killing and injuring scores of the group’s terrorists.
US-led coalition aircraft continues to support units of the Iraqi Army and Tribal Mobilization that move forward into western Anbar to recapture the remaining ISIS-held cities at a time the terrorist group’s power is waning.
On Tuesday, it was reported that Counter Terrorism Service (CTS) forces, which will take part in the operation to recapture Qa’im city in western Anbar, were trained to fight in the desert.
According to a source from Anbar, a CTS unit has arrived in the governorate to participate in the operation to retake Qa’im.
Earlier, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has declared launching a military operation to retake Qa'im and Rawa cities in western Anbar from ISIS.
In September, the Iraqi forces recaptured Annah city in western Anbar. Tal Afar city in Nineveh Governorate was retaken late in August.
On July 10, the Iraqi Army recaptured Mosul after a nine-month military operation.
