Iraq's Interior Minister Qassem al-Araji will never put Iran-allied IMIS militias commanders to trial over abuses committed in Kirkuk, Kurdish activists said on social media.
IMIS militias that are fighting alongside Iraqi forces against Peshemrga forces in Kirkuk have committed abuses that amount to war crimes in Kirkuk, observers said.
Due to the Iran-backed militias' terrorism, more than 61.000 Iraqis were forced to leave their homes in Kirkuk, according to the United Nations.
Araji said in a statement, "We have recorded some abuses in Kirkuk and we will hold those responsible accountable".
But IMIS militias enjoy big clout in the political scene in Iraq.
