Hundreds of activists have staged a protest in front of UNESCO headquarters in Paris against Qatar's support to terrorism, a video obtained by the Baghdad Post revealed Thursday.
The protesters expressed rejection of the tiny Gulf state's bid for the UNESCO Secretary General post.
Qatar’s Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari received 18 votes in the voting to replace UNESCO’s director-general Irina Bokova by the start of 2018.
The protesters slammed Qatar's behind-the-scene practices to win the highly prestigious international post. They added Doha would use its “money weapon" to get the post.
Also, Kawari has been accused of being anti-Semitic.
"Qatar has contributed to the spread of chaos, terrorism, hatred and the overthrow of regimes in the Middle East to serve terrorist agendas," protesters said.
