The Iraqi Communist Party (ICP) has called for initiating an unconditional dialogue between Baghdad and Erbil with the participation of all political parties and under United Nations auspices, a statement revealed Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by the party’s political bureau, local and foreign parties have deliberately called for taking extremist actions, ignoring rational methods to resolve the crisis.
The current Erbil-Baghdad crisis is not isolated from the general crisis weighing on Iraq for years. It is one of the outcomes of a regime based on ethno-sectarian quota system, the party said.
It also noted that the federal state is still capable of providing satisfying solutions to all parties, given the political will and UN support.
