Ending my membership in the Iraqi Parliament over my participation in Kurdistan Region’s independence referendum is an honor, Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) MP Najiba Najib revealed Monday.
In a press statement, Najib said that everyone knows that there is neither a constitution nor law anymore in Iraq.
Personal whims often control federal government and parliament’s decisions, she noted.
Parliamentary sources said that a joint interim committee voted on Sunday in favor of dismissing a number of Kurdistan blocs’ MPs over their participation in the independence referendum.
Najib is one of the Kurdish MPs whose membership has been terminated.
Last week, parliament suspended the membership of Kurdish MPs.
This comes after the parliament convened a session, presided by its speaker Salim al-Jabouri.
The session was attended by 175 MPs, but Kurdish MPs were absent.
