Maliki rejects dialogue with Kurdistan unless referendum is cancelled
Former Iraqi prime minister Nuri al-Maliki on Sunday met with  US Ambassador to Iraq  Douglas A. Silliman at his office in Baghdad.

in a statement, Maliki's media office said that he informed Silliman with his opposition to the dialogue between Baghdad and Erbil unless Kurdistan cancels the result of the independence referendum

The referendum of the Kurdistan region is unconstitutional and must be cancelled, the statement claimed.

Experts said that Maliki is attempting to impede initiatives to start a dialogue with Erbil, serving the Iranian agenda in the region.
