Controlling border gates not aimed to besiege Kurdistan-Abadi's office

Office of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Friday said any measure taken by the government will take into account the interests of the Kurdish people.

The office's statement said:"The central government's control over border gates and seaports is not aimed to impose any sort of siege on the Kurds."

It added that this measure is taken at all border crossings across Iraq.

The statement noted that moving control over the airports of Kurdistan from the Kurdish authorities to the central government occurred in accordance with the constitution.
