A Kurdish American child has asked US President Donald Trump and the US congress to support Kurds in Iraq, a video, obtained by The Baghdad Post, revealed Wednesday.
In the video, the child also asked the US president and congress to recognize the results of Kurdistan Region’s independence referendum.
According to Independent High Electoral and Referendum Commission (IHERC) the participation ratio from the eligible voters reached 72.16%, with 92.73% voted YES and 7.27 voted NO.
On Monday, voting started in an independence referendum organized by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), ignoring the threats of the Kurds’ neighbors and fears of further instability and violence across the Middle East.
The referendum was held despite intense international pressure to call it off, amid fears that it would spark fresh conflicts with Baghdad and with Iraq’s powerful neighbors, Iran and Turkey.
