Mosques in Erbil have used loud speakers to urge Kurdish people to effectively participate in Monday's referendum on the Kurdistan Region independence from Iraq.
Kurdish voters flocked to polling stations in Kurdistan and disputed areas, shrugging off regional and international threats.
Polling stations opened Mondat at 8:00 A.M. and is set to close at 6:00 PM. About 5.2 million voters are expected to give a comfortable yes to the establishment of an independent Kurdistan.
The final result will be declared within 72 hours.
