Kirkuk governor vows to expel all Arabs from governorate

Kirkuk Governor Negm el Din Karim pledged to force all Arabs to leave the governorate soon, sources at the governorate's headquarters said on Saturday.

This came as a microphone revealed a phone call made by the governor with a Kurdish official, the sources said, adding that Karim vowed, in the phone call, to expel all Arabs from the governorate soon and asserting that all measures were taken to implement such plan.

Observers say that Karim is carrying out a scheme that aims at forcing all Arabs to leave the governorate ahead of participating in the Kurdistan independence referendum.

Kurdistan Regional Government announced on June 7 that it would vote on September 25 on secession from Iraq.
