Political prisoner slams EU diplomats attending Rouhani inauguration

Hassan Rouhani
A well-known Iranian political activist has denounced the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini and other prominent   European diplomats' attending President Hassan Rouhani's inauguration on Saturday.

Paris-based Sadegh Sistani said Rouhani begins his second term while his first remains stained by more than 3,000 executions.

Sistani, a prominent human rights activist, has been imprisoned for 17 years in political jails in the Shiite country.

Sistani also voiced concerns over a visit by dozens of ambassadors and diplomats stationed in Tehran to Evin prison organized by the Mullah's theocratic regime.

Evin prison is known as a center for torture and rights abuses against human rights activists.
